The human brain is a complex and diverse “world”. It has a complex central nervous system and it is also the main organ for regulating body functions, directing advanced neural activities such as consciousness, spirit, language, learning, memory, etc. 🧠
Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is uses a small pacemaker-like device placed under the skin of the chest to send electrical signals through very thin wires to the areas of the brain that control movement. DBS can help to control the motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease which are tremor (shaking), slow movement (bradykinesia), and stiffness (rigidity).
When the medication is no longer as effective as it once was, and the symptoms make Parkinson's patients' lives difficult, DBS may be able to help some patients live as independently as possible and continue with activities they love. 😁 So, do you know how DBS works? Let's watch this video 😉⬇️
